Vein Conditions care at Advanced Medical Group
Overview

Why veins fail — and what modern care does about it

Veins return blood from your legs to your heart against gravity, with tiny one-way valves. When those valves leak, blood pools — causing the bulging, aching, itching, swelling and skin changes most people associate with “varicose veins.”

Modern vein care is nothing like the vein stripping of decades ago. With a tiny catheter under ultrasound guidance, we can close failing veins using heat (laser/RF), glue (VenaSeal), foam (sclerotherapy) or a hybrid (ClariVein) — typically in 30–60 minutes, with zero downtime. Insurance covers it when symptoms are documented.

FAQ

Common questions

Real, specific answers from our team. If your question is not here, our front desk can usually answer it in a 5-minute phone call.

Is vein treatment just cosmetic?

Often it’s medically necessary — for aching, swelling, skin changes or ulcer prevention. Cosmetic spider-vein treatment is also available, with clear pricing.

Is the procedure painful?

Most patients feel only the small local-anesthetic stick. The actual treatment is a feeling of pressure or warmth and typically takes 30–60 minutes.

How long is recovery?

Most patients walk out and resume normal activity the same day. We recommend daily walking, compression for a week or two, and avoiding heavy lifting for 48 hours.

Will the veins come back?

The treated vein is permanently closed. New veins can develop over years from the same underlying valve issue — annual ultrasound checks let us catch and treat anything new while it’s small.

Does insurance cover vein treatment?

Yes for symptomatic veins (aching, swelling, skin changes, ulcers) — Medicare and most commercial plans cover diagnostic ultrasound and treatment. Cosmetic-only spider veins are out-of-pocket.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

It depends on the size, depth and location of the failing vein. A 20-minute ultrasound map lets us recommend the gentlest effective option for your anatomy.
