Sclerotherapy
A solution is injected into spider and small varicose veins, causing them to collapse and fade over time.

What it is
Sclerotherapy treats both spider veins and small varicose veins. A sclerosing solution is injected directly into the affected vein, irritating its lining so it collapses and seals shut. Blood is naturally redirected to healthier veins, and over the following weeks the body absorbs the treated vein until it fades from view.
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in our office. A very fine needle is used, so most patients feel only mild, brief discomfort. Afterward you may be asked to wear compression stockings to support healing, and you can usually return to normal activity the same day.
What it helps with
Sclerotherapy is non-surgical and minimally invasive, with no incisions and minimal downtime. Most patients see real improvement in the appearance of treated veins and relief from related discomfort, with a high success rate for spider and small varicose veins.
Frequently asked questions
Is sclerotherapy painful?
Most patients report only mild discomfort. The injection needle is very fine; some people feel a slight burning or cramping sensation that subsides quickly.
How long does a session take?
On average 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the number and size of the veins treated. Extensive or recurrent veins may need more than one session.
How soon will I see results?
Results are not immediate — it can take a few weeks to several months for treated veins to fade.
Is there any downtime?
Sclerotherapy is an outpatient procedure and most people resume normal activities right away. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity and prolonged sun exposure for a short period.
How long do the results last?
Treated veins are reduced or eliminated, but the procedure doesn’t prevent new veins forming over time. Occasional touch-up treatments may help maintain results.
