Vein Treatments
A full range of minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins, spider veins and venous insufficiency.

What it is
Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins visible at the surface of the skin. They form when weakened or damaged valves let blood pool, making the veins bulge and become visible.
They often bring leg discomfort — aching, heaviness, throbbing or cramping — alongside swelling, itching or tingling. Contributing factors include ageing, an inherited tendency, hormonal changes such as pregnancy, excess weight, prolonged sitting or standing, and a sedentary lifestyle. While varicose veins are usually not life-threatening, they can cause discomfort and complications like blood clots or ulcers, so timely evaluation matters. Regular exercise, a healthy weight, elevating the legs, avoiding long periods of sitting or standing, and compression stockings can all help reduce the risk.
Vein treatments we offer
Sclerotherapy
A specialised solution is injected directly into the targeted vein, causing it to collapse and gradually fade. It is performed as an outpatient procedure, after which compression stockings are usually worn for a short period to aid healing.
Endovenous Laser Treatment
A thin laser fibre is inserted into the affected vein and emits laser energy to heat and close it off. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia and usually takes under an hour.
Radiofrequency Ablation
Radiofrequency energy heats and seals the affected vein shut. A catheter delivers the energy; the procedure typically takes 30–60 minutes under local anaesthesia.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Performed under local anaesthesia, this technique removes larger surface varicose veins through tiny incisions in the skin — ideal for veins close to the surface, with minimal scarring and a quick recovery.
Laser Therapy
Focused laser energy is applied externally to the skin to target and treat varicose veins, without incisions or injections. Multiple sessions may be scheduled to treat different areas.
Compression Therapy
Compression stockings or bandages apply gentle pressure to the legs to improve circulation and ease symptoms — often used as a conservative measure or to complement other treatments.
Frequently asked questions
How long is recovery after vein treatment?
Recovery varies by treatment and individual, but most patients return to regular activities within a few days to a couple of weeks. More invasive procedures may need a little longer.
Will my varicose veins come back?
Treated veins generally fade or disappear, but new veins can develop over time. Following aftercare and healthy lifestyle habits helps prevent recurrence.
Are vein treatments painful?
Most are well tolerated with minimal discomfort. Any mild pain during or after a procedure can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
Are there side effects or risks?
Vein treatments are generally safe. Each procedure carries some minor risks and possible side effects, but serious complications are rare — our team will walk you through what to expect.
Can I have treatment during pregnancy?
It is best to wait until after pregnancy. Hormonal changes and increased blood volume during pregnancy can affect treatment results, so we’ll help you plan the right timing.
